Which Facial Should I Book? A Guide to Facials at The Fifth Om

One of the questions we hear often is some version of: “I know I want a facial, but which one should I book?”

That makes sense. Facial menus can get complicated quickly, especially when they include different treatment lengths and modalities—peels, dermaplaning, LED, microcurrent, etc.

The good news is that you do not need to arrive knowing exactly what your skin needs. That is part of our job.

At The Fifth Om, every facial is customized. Your esthetician will look at your skin, ask questions about what you are using at home, talk through what you are noticing, and make adjustments from there. At the same time, if you come in knowing exactly what you want, then we’re happy to work with that! Our intension is always to create just the experience you’re looking for.

When to start with the Classic Facial

Our Classic Facial is a great place to begin if you are looking for a thorough, customized facial without a lot of added modalities. Think European style facial + some holistic touches—steaming, an exfoliation, relaxing facial massage, and whatever else your skin might need.

This treatment gives us time to cleanse, exfoliate, treat, hydrate, and support the skin based on what it needs that day. It is especially well suited to someone who is new to facials or simply prefers a more traditional facial experience.

If you are not sure where to start, you will not go wrong here.

Choose the Elevated Facial when you want more customization

Our Elevated Facial allows us to go further.

Depending on your skin and your goals, your esthetician may incorporate modalities such as LED light therapy, microcurrent, high frequency, dermaplaning, gua sha, or other targeted techniques.

The longer treatment times also give us more room to thoughtfully incorporate more than one advanced modality as needed.

A 75- or 90-minute Elevated Facial can be a particularly good choice if you have several things you want to address, if you enjoy a more layered treatment, or if you simply want more time to settle in.

What if I want dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning can be a beautiful addition for the right person. It removes surface buildup and fine vellus hair (aka peach fuzz), leaving the skin feeling especially smooth and helping makeup sit more evenly.

You do not necessarily need to decide on dermaplaning before you arrive. If you are curious about it, book an Elevated Facial and let your esthetician know. We can talk through whether it makes sense for your skin that day.

What about a peel?

A peel may be a good option when the skin would benefit from more focused exfoliation and renewal.

We offer our Reveal Peel in both Classic and Elevated formats, and we will always take into account your skin sensitivity, current routine, recent sun exposure, and what your skin is doing right now.

Again, this is not something you need to fully informed on before you come in. If you are not sure whether you need a peel, just go ahead and book the facial and we can guide you.

Does the length of the facial matter?

Yes, mostly because more time gives us more flexibility.

A shorter facial can still be very effective, but a longer session allows more room for customization, additional techniques, and a slower pace.

For many of our regular facial clients, 75 or 90 minutes becomes the sweet spot because it gives us enough time to work with the skin and still preserve the part of the experience that feels restorative.

The most important thing is to book

You do not need to know your skin type perfectly. You do not need to choose every modality in advance. You do not need to come in with a treatment plan.
