Lisa Mitchell Healing

Healing through Yoga, Mindfulness and Mental Health Counselling

A note from Lisa:

Curious, compassionate and present are words that describe me.  I possess a Masters of Education in Adult Education, Community Development and Counselling Psychology and have studied somatic and spiritual psychotherapy. I am fascinated by personal transformation. As a student and teacher of yoga for over fifteen years I have completed well over a thousand hours of yoga education. I teach trauma informed yoga and am particularly interested in how yoga can enhance embodiment and mental well being. I teach slow mindful yoga, including restorative and incorporate somatic inquiry and nervous system regulation tools. I enjoy teaching small group classes and working with students privately so sessions can be tailored to meet people’s unique needs. My journey with yoga has allowed me to support people dealing with addiction, trauma, stress, illness and anxiety through classes, workshops and private sessions. I believe yoga is for everyone. In addition to teaching yoga, I offer mental health counselling. Visit www.lisamitchellhealing.ca to learn more about me.

A note from April:

My mission to you

Healing starts in the body first, and then it ripples out into our everyday life. The practices of yoga and embodiment help us start that journey.

As a certified yoga instructor and embodiment coach, I utilizes the powerful tools of mindfulness, embodiment, and breathwork to help clients understand and identify the root causes of anxiety.

I specializes in trauma-informed yoga, and am passionate about developing a tailored plan/practice to help clients work through symptoms associated with anxiety in a safe approachable way.

I believe in guiding my students with compassion while also encouraging them to step out of their perceived comfort zone. To me, this is where growth happens!

My personal journey is the road map that helps me guide you. As an instructor, coach, and healer, my goal is to always make you feel more human and less alone. Because I know, first hand,  the strength it takes to heal and overcome what once seemed impossible.

Let me guide you into a life free from anxiety, panic, and fear.

Mel Walbridge

Open Studio

Open Studio is a welcoming and vibrant platform for classes and connection around yoga.

About Mel

My passion for movement developed at a young age and evolved through a range of athletic pursuits. After finishing my college volleyball career with a National Championship and All-American honors, I found myself with intense and unrelenting back pain. I originally came to yoga as a means to heal my body; I ended up just as inspired by the emotional practice as the physical one. For the first time, I was able to listen to my body in a way that nurtured it, rather than demanded something from it.

I’m originally from San Francisco and after ten years of practice in studios across the country, I completed my 200hr training with Kula Yoga in New York City. Since then, I’ve continued my studies with Nikki Vilella (Kula/Vinyasa Flow), Nevine Michaan (Katonah Yoga), and Tom Meyers (Anatomy Trains). In 2023, I completed my Katonah Yoga certification.

My teaching, like my creative pursuits, is informed by a multidimensional range of influences. I studied psychology for several years, which stokes my interest in the subtle body and how yogic practices can cultivate emotional resilience and inner connection. My background in athletics runs parallel to a deep appreciation for art and the creative process, reflecting the balance of action and introspection that grounds my classes.

Class

In my classes, I create a calm yet focused container for your personal practice. I often incorporate an athletic flow and dynamic breath as a means to access a more subtle, internal awakening. Presenting tools for you to land and find presence, I offer classes in a range of styles and durations, but always with an air of lightness and joy. To me, yoga is a tool for deeper embodiment, both physically and emotionally.

See you in class!

Jen Wasson

Oil Paintings, Salt + Sand Jewelry

Artist + Maker

About

Jen’s oil paintings adorn the walls of The Fifth Om, complimenting the space within. Paintings + jewelry are both available for purchase in studio.

Artist Statement

Lately, I find myself drawn to Maine's moody coastline, and the ethereal lighting of the White Mountains. I'm captivated by moments when the atmosphere takes on a dramatic, transcendent quality, and forms soften against one another. When the late day sun breaks through a veil of fog, or the final gasp of sunset punctures clouds above the sea, hard lines are obscured, shapes dissolve, and defining reality is left to the imagination. This is where I live.

Bio

Jennifer Wasson was born in Manhattan, and began painting at an early age inspired by her mother, who was an artist and art teacher herself. As a young adult, she studied oil painting at The Art Students League of New York for 2 years before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area. She spent over 15 years painting the streets of San Francisco, and the redwood forests of Northern California. In 2018, Wasson returned to the east coast, and now calls Southern Maine her home.
